Update on the Solanum Virus

As the Solanum virus spreads rapidly throughout the eastern United States, scientists still do not have much information about the virus itself. It is a complex virus that mutates very rapidly. The CDC has classified it as a class 5 on the pandemic severity index and it is estimated that it has proved fatal for 55% of the world's population. The CDC urges everybody to remain indoors as the virus is airborne as well as very contagious through bodily fluids. Currently, the quarantine zone consists of every state east of the Mississippi River, with borders set up on the west banks of the river as well as the southern border with Mexico. For now, it is being effectively contained; although we have little to no contact with the Eastern states. Sources say that there is a 95% case-fatality rate in the quarantine zone. The CDC is currently working on an effective vaccine but progress is slow. "The virus mutates too rapidly for us to study it, and it spreads even faster."

Once again, symptoms include—
Hour 1: Pain and discoloration (brown-purple) of the infected area. Immediate clotting of the wound (provided the infection came from the wound.
Hour 5: Fever (99-103 degrees F), chills, slight dementia, vomiting, acute pain in the joints.
Hour 8: Numbing of the extremities and infected area, increased fever (103-106 degrees F), increased dementia, loss of muscular coordination.
Hour 11: Paralysis in the lower body, overall numbness, slowed heart rate.
Hour 16: Coma.
Hour 20: Heart stoppage. Zero brain activity.
Hour 23: Reanimation

The reanimated dead are extremely aggressive and will attack without warning. AVOID THEM AT ALL COSTS.

There is still no word of evacuation plans, although FEMA claims that the plan is still underway. Expect more updates in a few days.
